It’s been about a month since I got back from this magical place of Tulum, Mexico and I thought its due time that I write a post for future first timers and to share some of my favorite spots. I was lucky enough to be accompanied by a seasoned visitor one of my good friends and travel partner plus a few other first time Tulum friends.

This trip was totally a spontaneous one. I was sitting in my hotel post fashion week about to get on a plane back to LA when my friend asks if I want to join on a trip to Tulum and lets be real I’m never one to deny a spontaneous trip. I got back to LA and didn’t even unpack New York before jumping on a flight to Mexico. Upon arriving the weather was totally perfect – highly recommend frozen east coasters to visit during February – It’s warm but not HOT.

A place I recommend to stay are Hotel Tiki Tiki which is a boutique hotel located in a remote area outside the city – This hotel feels like Mexico should feel, It’s a 10 minute drive from the strip and its not a resort which I’m all about, experience Mexico, not 24/7 room service (not that I oppose this but Tulum still has its charm, enjoy it.) I do recommend spending a night or two near the coast, our friends got a room for a night at Azulik and it was absolutely amazing, rooms like I’ve never seen before, a wellness spa, and an amazing restaurant Kin Toh which is not only gourmet food but a total experience.

As far as eats goes my post memorable spot has to be Antojitos La Chiapaneca – its a casual taco spot on the strip with possibly the HOTTEST salsa I’ve ever tried – be chill with it! And definitely the best tacos. Another must stop is Papa Playa – this beach resort has an amazing restaurant a beach front and cabanas to chill on after.

I only spend a brief four days in Mexico and this trip I totally chilled – I wasn’t trying to see everything, I was trying to take everything in. But I had to see the Grand Cenotes so last minute I hopped in a taxi and experienced it and let me say it was totally worth being wet on the flight back to LA. The clear blue turquoise waters and swim through the caves is truly surreal.

If one tip I’d give to you would be to do Mexico how Mexico should be done, in slow motion. Sleep in, drink tequila, breath it in, eat salsa you can’t handle and and enjoy.

What I’m Wearing: Valas Multiple Pockets Backpack, All Saints Rolla Shirt, Acne Studios Denim, Vince Boots

Finally the air is getting warmer, the plants are getting greener (thanks to all the rain we got in LA this winter) and the people are coming out of their caves. It’s feeling a lot like Spring even though its not quite here just yet. For some reason green reminds me of spring and I’ve been sporting my olive Valas backpack a ton these last weeks.

I’m all about a bag that can fit it all and plus some. As a creative and freelancer I don’t have a desk so having a bag to carry all my things in (i.e.: laptop, camera, hard drive etc.) so this multi pocket number is perfect for me. And yeah I’m a fashion blogger so of course its gotta be fashion forward. Valas is a Los Angeles brand and brands from LA definitely have a special place in my heart also they are creating some amazing and innovative things in the mens space so if you haven’t heard make sure to give them a look.

I paired the bag with a polka dot shirt I picked up the other day, I’m not always a guy huge on pattern but this shirt gave me major YSL vibes and paired with a pair of black skinnies I think its a perfect casual but interesting fit.
